Research and Empowerment Organisation continues to fight for Human Rights in Bangladesh – Human Rights Day 2019

Every year December 10 is observed as Human Rights Day, the day in 1948 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)- a comprehensive document that talks about the rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being.

In Bangladesh, across the world the past year has been all about standing up for the rights of groups that face structural inequality. To address the issue and to bring attention to the Bangladeshi government and human rights bodies Research and Empowerment Organisation (REO) and Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD) organised the “Human Chain” in Dhaka.

REO and GHRD, full of determination to make the lives of Hindu Rohingya in the refugees camps in Bangladesh better. REO with support of GHRD conducts programs for minority, young men and women and Rohingya refugees, and takes necessary step to stop the atrocity against humanity and minority. 

The Human Rights day was celebrated in presence of Dr Biswanath Sarkar, a veteran Educationalist and social worker in Dhaka. Along with the youth leader Bipul Chandra Devnath, Rajesh Raha, Champak Roy, Prijus Chandra Nath, and Moumita.

In the occasion of Human Rights day Dr. Biswanath Sarkar said,

There has not been a single day in Bangladesh, where the females and the Hindus are not targeted. Each and every day Minority Hindus are traumatised, females are raped, tortured and killed. The government should come forward to stop this atrocity.”
