Evaluation Meeting on the International Women’s Day’s events in The Hague
by De BRUG/GHRD

De BRUG/GHRD organized a follow-up meeting to the monitoring activity it had organized during the International Women’s Day (IWD) events in The Hague that lasted from the first to the eight of March 2009.
This follow-up meeting, or evaluation meeting, was held last Friday on the 13th of March 2009 in Cordaid building in The Hague, The Netherlands. At this meeting, the main findings of the IWD monitoring activity were presented and discussed.

During the whole week, GHRD staff and volunteers attended more than 30 events and had the privilege to witness, experience and take part in a wide range of activities that were organized to celebrate women and their achievements. It was unique and very inspiring.

After the IWD, which was massively celebrated around the globe on the 8th of March, GHRD organized an evaluation meeting on the 13th of March, where it had invited the organizers and participants of the events in The Hague to come together and share their views on the celebrations.

This evaluation meeting included presentations on the preliminary findings of the monitoring activity in The Hague, Women’s day celebrations in South Asia and discussions on future activities of De BRUG. The discussions were very lively addressing the IWD’s celebrations in The Hague, the real issues of concerns among migrant women on IWD and the spirit of activism among women. It provided also opportunities of experience sharing among some of the participants and created inroads to De BRUG’s strategies.
The evaluation meeting had attracted different groups of audiences, varying from students to officials. It was made possible with the very generous and professional assistance of Cordaid, The Hague.
The group of students who had volunteered in the monitoring activity of the IWD’s events was not forgotten. GHRD expressed its gratitude to them and handed them an award of appreciation.
