| Human Rights Training With De Brug - Part I |
| The first training was held on Friday the 5th of June in The Hague. Participants of the training were representatives of migrant organizations who came from various backgrounds intending to promote human rights in their field of work. |

| The programme of the day was divided in three sessions. The first session under the theme of: Introduction to the Human Rights work and systems; was presented by Professor Bas de Gaay Fortman (Chair in Political Economy of Human Rights at the Utrecht School of Law). He strengthened the participants’ knowledge and understanding on human rights and gave an overview of international and regional instruments on Human Rights. |

| The second session under the theme of: Monitoring and reporting human rights violations, was presented by Ms. Helen Duffy (Litigation Director of INTERIGHTS, and human rights lawyer). She introduced the procedures of reporting human rights violations. The last session was a workshop on GHRD’s human rights reporting. This workshop was conducted by GHRD’s human rights officer, Ms. Jenny Lundstrom. She familiarized the participants on the work of GHRD in South Asia. |

Adding up to the theoretical part, GHRD also arranged for practical activities such as a visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to provide participants with the opportunity to attend current ongoing public hearings. On Wednesday the 10th of June, a few trainees, accompanied by a staff from GHRD, attended the hearing of Thomas Lubanga from the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the ICC. He is the first man ever to stand trial at the ICC in The Hague.
The next training will be conducted on Friday 12 June and the following on Friday 26 June. |
