On April 4 and 5, GHRD presented human rights issues at the Gymnasium Sorghvliet to 100 students aged between 13 to 15 years old. Four representatives from migrant organizations shared their experiences as migrants in the Netherlands.
On the 14th March, GHRD human rights officer Jenny Lundstrom held a lecture on GHRD’s human rights activities in South Asia for students of the programme of human rights studies at Lund University in Sweden. Some 30 first and second year students of this unique multidisciplinary programme were present and engaged in discussion on these issues.
GHRD celebrated International Women’s Day on 7th March 2011, with the event Women Heroes – Stories from South Asia, at its head office in The Hague.
On the 21st of January, GHRD presented its main findings and recommendations from a one year research project on Bhutanese resettlement in the Netherlands to the Dutch and European authorities. The report was entitled From Himalayas to the Lowlands – in search of peace and happiness.
GHRD’s local partners presented its 2010 year report on human rights during a press conference held in Dhaka on the 28th of February 2011 at the Reporters Unity Press Club at VIP Louche Auditorium.
