On the 8th of March, GHRD will celebrate International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Forum for Protection of People’s Rights (PPR), Maiti Nepal and the Bhutanese Community in The Netherlands. These organisations have planned various projects and activities to mark this special day.
Forum for Protection of People's Rights, Nepal (PPR Nepal)
PPR will organise a social event on 8th March called, “Empowering Women Through Success Story Telling”. This project was created to highlight the success stories of women who have fled their homes in search of security and a better life. The aim is to inspire other women who have been victims of conflict to do the same.
Maiti Nepal will be hosting an event on International Women’s Day based on the theme of “Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All”. During this event, Maiti Nepal will be presenting an award to Ms Churamaya Panday, chairperson of an organisation working for survivors of trafficking. The event will raise awareness to women’s issues and specifically to the cause of countering human trafficking.
Bhutanese Community in The Netherlands
The Bhutanese Community in The Netherlands (BCN) will be organising an event in the Beldangi Bhutanese refugee camp in Nepal on 8th March, to celebrate International Women’s Day.
