GHRD Announces the second series of training of de Brug programme

Global Human Rights Defence is pleased to announce the second series of Training on Human Rights. This training is part of De Brug programme. De Brug is a programme of networking and capacity building addressed to Dutch migrant and Diaspora organisations willing to operate in the human rights field within their countries of origin. The training aims at equipping the participants with practical tools to operate in the human rights field.

The topics and dates of the Training on Human Rights are as follows: 

Development and human rights

27th of March: 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. 

Reporting and awareness raising on human rights violations

24th of April: 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Human rights education and lobbying

8th of May: 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Corporate social responsibility and fundraising

15th of May: 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Development and human rights

The lesson will introduce the participants to the basic tools of the human rights work, focusing on the differences between the development and the human rights work field. During the session the basic concepts of the human rights based development approach will be explained and it will be explored how to integrate specifics of the human rights field within development activities. 

Report and raise awareness on human rights violations

The lesson will give the participants insight into how human rights violations should be reported and what kind of information is relevant to do so. Moreover, the bodies in the human rights field will be identified. The session on advocacy and lobbying will introduce the participants to the tools which can be used to raise awareness on human rights violations, including examples such as petitions, protests and campaigning. 

Human rights education and lobbying

The session will address the issue of providing human rights education to young people, including the role of human rights education within school curricula. The main resource material and institutions available for human rights education will be introduced. Moreover, it will deal with the best tools and practices for lobbying to Dutch national institutions. 

Corporate social responsibility and fundraising

The session will deal will with how the business sector can be involved in the human rights field through corporate social responsibility. The intentions of civic and human rights education will also be explained in that context. In addition, the participants will be provided with an introduction to fundraising and it various strategies. 

Important note: Participants will only then receive a certificate if they attend 75% of the lessons.
