Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD), in collaboration with The Hague Humanity Hub and Just Peace Movie Night, invites you to an impactful evening of film, dialogue, and reflection: Just Peace Movie Night x GHRD: SOLD. A Child Trafficked. This event raises awareness about child trafficking, sexual exploitation, and the structural inequalities that enable these grave human rights violations.
The evening features the powerful 2012 film SOLD. A Child Trafficked, shot mainly in Nepal, which tells the stories of young girls who become victims of sexual slavery in brothels across India. The film exposes the harsh realities of child trafficking and highlights the socioeconomic drivers behind it, including poverty, lack of resources, and social marginalization. Many of the victims portrayed belong to the Tamang ethnic group, where systemic vulnerability and desperation leave children especially at risk.
Through storytelling and cinema, this event aims to shine a light on the price paid by young girls and women when societies turn a blind eye to exploitation and injustice. It offers a space to critically reflect on human rights, gender-based violence, and the global fight against child trafficking.
Following the screening, a panel discussion and Q&A will bring together leading voices in filmmaking, policy, and child protection:
