The Hague, 28 September 2025 — The One World One Family Conference brought together the Hindu and Hindustani community of the Netherlands to mark International Peace Week at the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague. The event celebrated the shared vision of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—one world, one family—calling for unity, peace, and equality for all.
A call for unity amid growing challenges
Speakers highlighted the lived reality of the Hindu community, which continues to face discrimination, exclusion, and even violence. Despite these challenges, the conference delivered a hopeful message: lasting peace can only exist where it is achieved in equality. This principle, deeply rooted in Hindu culture through values such as ahimsa (non-violence) and dharma (justice), inspired dialogue and reflection among participants.
GHRD’s contribution to global peace and justice
Representing the Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD), Charlotte Zehrer, Human Rights Officer and specialist in International and European Public Law, emphasized the vital role of international institutions such as the United Nations in safeguarding people worldwide from discrimination. Her address reinforced GHRD’s commitment to building inclusive societies based on human dignity and equal rights.
Inspiring speakers and youth engagement
Notable speakers included Sadhguru, Pratima Singh, Rajeev Lachmipersad, Shashi Roopram, and Charlotte Zehrer, with moderation by Shivam Joshi and Dewi. Together, they encouraged participants—especially young people—to act as bridge-builders for peace and understanding.
In an increasingly divided world, the One World One Family conference served as a reminder that peace begins within and grows through compassion, justice, and solidarity—values that define both Hindu philosophy and GHRD’s mission.
