Child marriage remains a serious human rights issue despite the existence of international legal frameworks aimed at its elimination. Although global conventions set minimum standards to protect children, their implementation at the national level often remains weak. India, where child marriage persists despite legal prohibitions, highlights the gap between international human rights law and domestic enforcement. This report examines the shortcomings of international human rights mechanisms through the example of child marriage in India.
