This year, our Europe Team member Alice went to the UN in New York for us to cover the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. Major world leaders attended the UNGA and discussed relevant issues such as the war in Ukraine, sustainable development goals, and climate justice.
GHRD is attending the 54th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, covering interactive dialogues and discussions across important issues like the right to development, and the war in Ukraine. We will also be covering protests during the 54th Session, like the Sindhi protest, and the Baloch protest.
GHRD is organizing a side event during the 54th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on “Recognising the Genocide of Bengali Citizens in 1971: Preserving Historical Truth and Promoting Human Rights” at the United Nations, Geneva, to shed light on this overlooked and under-recognized atrocity.
Our media team member Kim attended the World Sindhi Congress in the UK. A variety of speakers spoke their thoughts on the current situation of the Sindhi people. The audience was filled with people from all over the world, with the same interest in making the lives of Sindhi people significantly better.
Our chairman Mr. Sital was present at the International Uyghur Forum (IUF). There were 80 speakers, 70 parliamentarians, and over 200 participants from 25 countries. Every person in attendance has placed a high value on the accountability measures designed to address the ongoing genocide against the Uyghur people.
Jessica and Kim, two of our media team members, attended the Peace conference in The Hague. The speakers that evening were insightful and offered a unique range of perspectives. Migration was the conference's main topic, and the question of whether migration causes or results from conflict was covered.
Our team middle East team member Mariana and women's rights team member Mira attended “The Way Towards a European Feminist Foreign Policy”, an event hosted by the European Greens and the EFA. It was a truly inspiring and thought-provoking event that our team will reflect in their research to come.
GHRD was honoured to host a group of students studying Criminal Justice at the United States International University Africa to hold a presentation on GHRD and its work in human rights reporting, education, advocacy, and empowerment.
Our women's rights member Tsedenia and our marketing team member Selina presented Global Human Rights Defence at an internship fair at a university in the Hague. It was an amazing opportunity to talk to students who are currently looking for an internship, especially for the marketing and events teams for our organization.
